Thursday, 31 Oct 2024

Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka were officially inaugurated on Sunday, October 20, as Indonesia's eighth president and fourteenth vice president for the 2024-2029 term at the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and House of Representatives (DPR) building in Jakarta.

In his first speech at the MPR in the Nusantara Building, President Prabowo Subianto pledged to lead Indonesia with honesty and responsibility, stressing the importance of focusing on the well-being of all citizens during his time in office.

“We will lead the Republic of Indonesia with sincere intentions, making sure to meet the needs of every citizen, even those who did not support us,” he said. The President acknowledged both local and global challenges facing the country. He noted that despite Indonesia's abundant natural resources, there are many hurdles and threats that require bravery to confront.

“I call on everyone, especially leaders among scholars, religious figures, business leaders, politicians, youth, and students, to come together to tackle these challenges,” he urged. President Prabowo also pointed out ongoing issues like corruption, budget mismanagement, and unethical practices between officials and businesses.

It is important to recognize the significant financial issues, irregularities, and the cooperation between political leaders and unpatriotic businesses at all levels. This situation cannot be ignored, he stated. In his speech, the President pointed out that many Indonesians still live in poverty, including children who go to school without breakfast and learn in poorly maintained facilities.

The President warned against celebrating improvements in statistics without fully understanding the larger picture. He urged everyone to work together to address these problems. "We must face threats and challenges bravely and tackle obstacles with strength. Let us join forces to find solutions and overcome these difficulties," he emphasized.
