The 11th Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) for 2024 is officially set to take place. This event will run from October 30 to November 3, 2024, at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) in Senayan, Jakarta. With the theme "Synergy of Islamic Economy and Finance to Strengthen Resilience and Sustainable Economic Growth," ISEF 2024 aims to foster strong collaboration for a more inclusive and sustainable Islamic economy and finance.
"This theme reflects our strong synergy to collectively realize Indonesia's Islamic finance as a new business asset, a new wave for an inclusive, resilient, and sustainable economy amid global economic challenges," said Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo.
Perry highlighted several key achievements from the 11th ISEF. These include strengthening the integrated and digitized Islamic finance ecosystem in Indonesia, enhancing institutional and regulatory frameworks for the development of Islamic finance at both national and regional levels, and boosting leadership in various international forums.
Additionally, Perry mentioned new features for ISEF 2024, such as: (i) enhancing leadership at international forums, including the 33rd Governing Board Meeting of the International Islamic Liquidity Management (IILM), an International High-Level Seminar on Islamic Finance, and the World Zakat & Waqf Forum (WZWF), (ii) strengthening collaboration between ISEF and other national and international events, and (iii) expanding the scale of the Indonesia International Halal Chef Competition (IN2HCC) and the Indonesia International Modest Fashion Festival (IN2MF).
Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that Islamic finance plays a strategic role in promoting sustainable economic growth. He added that the theme of ISEF 2024 is very relevant given the current global challenges.
With 87 percent of its population being Muslim, the country has great potential for developing its economy and Islamic finance, said Airlangga.
In the National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN) 2025-2045, the government aims for Indonesia to achieve strong economic growth. Airlangga emphasized that developing productive sectors like Islamic finance and halal products is crucial.
“To achieve the vision of Astha Cita, the Red and White Cabinet under President's leadership is committed to promoting national independence, including advancing Islamic economics in line with the medium-term development plan for 2024-2049,” he stated.
For your information, the ISEF 2024 will include events such as the International Sharia Forum and Domestic Sharia Forum. There will also be exhibitions like the Indonesia International Modest Fashion Festival (IN2MF), Indonesia International Halal Chef Competition (IN2HCC), a Halal Products and Modest Fashion Exhibition, as well as talk shows, business matching, competitions, and the ISEF Family Run, a non-competitive sports event.
