The Minister of Youth and Sports of Indonesia, Dito Ariotedjo, officially concluded the National Conference of the Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) 2024 in Jakarta on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. At this event, Budisatrio Djiwandono was chosen as the Chairman of the Central Board of Perbasi for the 2024-2028 term by acclamation.
"I hereby close the National Conference of Perbasi 2024," Minister Dito announced in his speech. He congratulated Budisatrio on his election and expressed hope that this new leadership will enhance basketball in Indonesia.
Minister Dito commended the election process for Budisatrio, highlighting that it was based on careful consideration and wise choices. "His path to becoming the Chairman of Perbasi was long and challenging, resulting from thorough and extensive deliberation," the Minister remarked.
During the conference, Budisatrio outlined his vision and mission as the newly elected Chairman, emphasizing the development of the industry, infrastructure, training, and organizing basketball tournaments in the nation. Minister Dito showed his support for this vision, noting the significant potential of basketball as a lifestyle for many Indonesians. "I trust in Mas Budi's leadership, especially with the vision and plans he has shared. Congratulations again, Mas Budi. May you carry out your duties successfully."
The Minister also praised Budisatrio's focus on the term "industry" rather than "achievement" in Perbasi's vision and mission. Dito stated that this aligns with basketball's established status in Indonesia. "Basketball has immense potential to evolve into an industry that generates jobs, from sports products to facilities and local equipment like hoops and balls, ultimately supporting national basketball success," said the Minister.
The Congress not only selected the Chairman for the 2024-2028 term but also introduced a new logo for Perbasi, representing the organization's fresh vision. The event featured the President Director of the Indonesian Basketball League, Junas Miradiarsyah, and Ardima Rama Putra, the Special Staff of Menpora for Achievement Improvement and Sports Industry Development.
