Chubb Life Indonesia Is Educating Small Business Owners In Padang About The Importance Of Having Insurance

Tuesday, 29 Oct 2024

Insurance Day is celebrated every October 18, and in 2024, it marks the 18th anniversary of this event. The Indonesian Insurance Council (DAI) has appointed the Sharia Insurance Association (AASI) to lead the Insurance Day 2024 activities, with Ronny Ahmad Iskandar at the helm.

According to the 2024 National Financial Literacy and Inclusion Survey (SNLIK) by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the financial literacy index for the Indonesian public stands at 65.43%, a significant increase from 49.68% in 2022. However, the financial inclusion index this year is at 72.02%, showing a decline from 85.10% in 2022.

Given these findings, we face the challenge of enhancing financial literacy and inclusion among the public through the Insurance Day 2024 Committee and collaboration with various insurance associations under DAI. In 2024, we will host a series of literacy and inclusion activities across different regions, continuing with the theme “Insurance Literacy for the Nation” and the tagline “Understand-Own-Protect.” This aligns with the Indonesian Insurance Industry Roadmap 2023-2027 set forth by OJK.

Ronny Ahmad Iskandar, the Chair of the Insurance Day 2024 Committee, is committed to providing insurance literacy and inclusion programs for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in partnership with PT Permodalan Nasional Madani. This initiative recognizes the vital role that MSMEs play in the national economy. Additionally, it’s crucial to educate these businesses on the importance of insurance to safeguard their financial stability while operating.

We're really excited to be part of the literacy and financial inclusion activities aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises, especially in Padang, a city that's growing rapidly with a strong economic boost. This initiative shows Chubb Life Indonesia's commitment to supporting the Indonesian government's programs and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in enhancing financial literacy and inclusion for the people of Indonesia, said Kumaran Chinan, President Director of Chubb Life Indonesia.

By focusing on the efforts of the entire insurance industry through education and literacy, we can rebuild public trust in the importance of insurance. This will help create a strong and stable insurance sector that provides financial planning protection and ensures safety and comfort for the future, making insurance a vital pillar of Indonesia's economy.
