Tokopedia and ShopTokopedia are celebrating Youth Pledge Day 2024 by continuing to support entrepreneurs in Indonesia, especially the youth, in starting and growing their businesses in the digital age through technology. This initiative aims to contribute to the country's economy together. To further boost the progress of young entrepreneurs in the digital landscape, Tokopedia and ShopTokopedia are focused on producing a large number of professional young creators who can assist small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in expanding their markets and promoting their products.
Aditia Grasio Nelwan, Head of Communications for Tokopedia and TikTok E-commerce, mentioned, "The theme for Youth Pledge Day 2024 is 'Advancing Together for a Greater Indonesia.' This theme carries a strong message about collaboration and emphasizes the spirit of mutual assistance to accelerate the nation's development."
This aligns with the collaborative efforts of Tokopedia and ShopTokopedia alongside strategic partners to help young entrepreneurs gain a broader platform, making their products more appealing to the public. For instance, campaigns like Buy Local and Localize with Batik are being prioritized. We're also producing more professional young creators through the Creators Lab to help SMEs promote their products in more engaging and relevant ways. The Buy Local and Localize with Batik initiative from Tokopedia and ShopTokopedia is boosting sales for local fashion brands. Fashion consistently ranks as one of the top-selling product categories on both platforms. In the third quarter of 2024, some of the best-selling categories on Tokopedia included Fashion, Beauty and Personal Care, Health, Food and Beverages, and Household items. On ShopTokopedia, the top categories were Fashion, Beauty and Personal Care, Food and Beverages, Home Supplies, and Electronics. Specifically, in the Fashion category, the most popular products on Tokopedia during the third quarter of 2024 were tops, shoes, and bottoms, while on ShopTokopedia, they were tops, hijabs, and bottoms. To boost the contribution of local fashion brands—especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs)—to the digital economy, Tokopedia and ShopTokopedia, along with strategic partners, are taking various initiatives. One example is the "Buy Local" campaign, which collaborates with the government to create a special showcase for local brands, including fashion, making them more appealing to consumers. There's also the "Localize with Batik" campaign, which works with the government, educational institutions, creators, and financial organizations to enhance the skills and capabilities of batik artisans and SMEs in this tech-driven era, Aditia explained.
Local brands, especially in fashion, driven by young entrepreneurs participating in various campaigns on Tokopedia and ShopTokopedia, are seeing positive results. For instance, Dama Kara doubled its sales thanks to the "Buy Local" initiative, while Batik Paduka saw a 70% increase in sales from joining the "Localize with Batik" campaign.
Aditia added, "Tokopedia and ShopTokopedia really appreciate young entrepreneurs—like the owners of Dama Kara and Batik Paduka—who are brave enough to start and grow their businesses while empowering their communities, especially other young people."
To further support the growth of young entrepreneurs in the digital age, Tokopedia and ShopTokopedia are nurturing as many young professional creators as possible through the Creators Lab. These young creators are expected to help SMEs expand their markets and promote their products in more engaging and relevant ways by becoming affiliate creators for Tokopedia and ShopTokopedia.
