PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk has teamed up with the Subang Regency Education and Culture Office in West Java to host the “Indonesia Digital Learning for Great Teacher” event. This gathering took place on October 12-13, 2024, at the Mulia Multipurpose Building in Subang, bringing together around 550 elementary and junior high school teachers from Subang and nearby areas.
The program aims to support teachers who have not yet completed their Professional Certification or those who previously struggled with the Government's Teacher Certification Test. Telkom is working to address the gaps in information technology skills, pedagogical competencies, and the challenges of implementing the Merdeka curriculum in teaching practices.
This initiative focuses on enhancing the quality of education in Indonesia by improving the skills of educators. The Digital Bootcamp and Teacher Competency Test Simulation featured several speakers who shared valuable tips and tricks for the Teacher Competency Test (both Pretest and Post Test).
Notable speakers included EVP of Telkom Regional II E. Kurniawan, Head of the Subang Education and Culture Office Dra. Nunung Suryani, M.Si, National Education Practitioner Dr. Sandi Budi Iriawan, M.Pd, Technopedagogy Expert Dr. Cepi Riyana, M.Pd, National Education Practitioner Prof. Dr. Mubiar Agustin, M.Pd, and Public Policy Analyst and education expert Prof. Dr. Karim Suryadi, M.Si.
For the Teacher Competency Test simulation, the application used was Pijar Sekolah, which features 100 varied questions for both pre-tests and post-tests. These questions were designed by a team of experts from the Indonesian University of Education, ensuring they closely resemble those used in national assessments.
Pijar plays a crucial role in facilitating this digital-based testing. It makes it easier for teachers to practice and refine their skills with convenient access and operation of the Pijar Sekolah app.
E. Kurniawan, the EVP of Telkom Regional II, pointed out that the digital industry is evolving rapidly. As a digital telecommunications company, Telkom needs to raise awareness among all its stakeholders, especially in the education sector.
"Through Indonesia Digital Learning, Telkom is working to enhance the quality of education and create awareness about the value of digitalization in schools using various platforms like Pijar Sekolah and Antares," he mentioned.
This initiative aims to address the challenges faced by educators in Indonesia. "With a significant demographic bonus, the education sector plays a crucial role in guiding teachers to provide adequate education to their students about the future of digitalization, ensuring they make informed choices," E. Kurniawan concluded.
