Tuesday, 15 Oct 2024

Living World Kota Wisata Cibubur, developed by PT Sahabat Kota Wisata—a joint venture between Kawan Lama Group and Sinar Mas Land—is playing a key role in supporting the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy's commitment to enhancing local resources and industries. This is being done through Competency-Based Training (CBT) for baristas in Bogor Regency. The event, held on October 9 and 10, 2024, marks the start of various exciting shopping activities themed ‘Autumn Glow’ at Living World Kota Wisata Cibubur throughout October 2024.

In his opening remarks, Toar Ramses Emil Mangaribi, the Chair of Team 1 Adyatama Creative Economy Tourism, noted, “The consumption rate and coffee drinking trends are on the rise, aligning with the growth of the local coffee industry in Indonesia. Given this, it’s essential to enhance the skills of baristas, and one way to do that is through the Competency-Based Training initiated by the Directorate of Human Resource Development in the Creative Economy. After this training, the 50 participants will receive certification, which we hope will create job opportunities and entrepreneurial prospects for skilled individuals in the creative economy.”

At the same event, Yudi Santosa, Head of the Culture and Tourism Office of Bogor Regency, shared, “In Bogor Regency, from East to North Bogor, there are thousands of baristas who all need training to improve their coffee preparation and serving skills. Today's Competency-Based Training for baristas, organized by Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf, serves as a bridge for baristas to develop work attitudes that meet international standards, enabling them to compete more effectively.”

A barista competency training program organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy at Living World Kota Wisata Cibubur aims to boost coffee-making skills and develop competitive human resources on a global scale. Fifty participants from the creative economy sector, particularly in culinary arts, took part in the training, which followed the SKKNI Barista module, featuring 20% theory and 80% hands-on practice led by certified instructors from the Professional Certification Institute (LSP) accredited by the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP).

Over two days, participants learned about different types of coffee, their characteristics, and flavor diversity; coffee cultivation techniques from planting to post-harvest processing; and methods for brewing and serving coffee. Those who demonstrate competence will receive a competency certification from the Directorate of Competency Standardization.

Budi Santoso, the General Manager of Living World Kota Wisata Cibubur, expressed his excitement about collaborating with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, stating, “We’re thrilled to be part of the Competency-Based Training (PBK) for baristas in Bogor. This collaboration showcases our synergy with the government to enhance skills and business opportunities for local industries, inspiring baristas to innovate and create.”

Since its opening in early 2024, Living World Kota Wisata Cibubur, known as ‘The Biggest Home Living and Eat-tertainment in East Jakarta and Bogor Area,’ is designed to be more than just a shopping destination. It aims to support the growth of various local industries and positively impact national economic growth. Currently, it hosts dozens of local tenants in the culinary and fashion sectors.
