The Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Budi Arie Setiadi, announced that the Digital Transformation Building at the Multimedia College (STMM) in Yogyakarta has been officially inaugurated. This facility has been designed by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to serve as a hub for producing superior human resources and digital talent in Indonesia.
This initiative aligns with the Vision Indonesia Digital (VID) 2045, which emphasizes the importance of digital talent in realizing a fully digital Indonesia by 2045.
"The development of competitive digital talent must be a shared priority. This is certainly in line with the Vision Indonesia Digital 2045, which positions the digital community as a key pillar supporting the realization of a digital Indonesia," stated Budi during the online inauguration of the Digital Transformation Building at STMM Yogyakarta on Friday.
Budi further explained that in fostering outstanding digital talent, the VID 2045 outlines two strategies prepared by the government: the first is to support upskilling and reskilling of the workforce through competency training tailored to technological advancements.
The second strategy involves implementing transformative changes in formal education through various synergies and partnerships with industry stakeholders.
The establishment of the Digital Transformation Building at STMM Yogyakarta exemplifies this second strategy aimed at cultivating superior digital talent in alignment with VID 2045.
Harry Budiarto, the Head of the Human Resource Development Agency (BPSDM) of the Ministry of Communication and Information, indicated that the Digital Transformation Building at STMM Yogyakarta is designed to serve as a learning center tailored to the advancements in digital technology.
The design and architecture of this building draw inspiration from leading educational institutions worldwide, such as Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and educational facilities in Detroit, USA.
Nevertheless, the Digital Transformation Building incorporates distinctive local Indonesian culture, ensuring that it features futuristic amenities while maintaining a classic appearance.
Constructed over a period of 10 months at a cost of Rp85 billion, funded by the Ministry of Communication and Information's budget for 2023 and 2024, the Digital Transformation Building spans an area of 9,363 square meters.
Harry stated that the Digital Transformation building is comprised of two sections, namely the right and left sides, functioning similarly to the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Each section of the building consists of four and six floors, respectively.
"This Digital Transformation building has two parts, symbolizing the left and right brain. Consequently, the rooms on the left are designated for serious academic activities, while the spaces on the right are intended for creative endeavors," Harry explained.
In addition to being constructed by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, one of the facilities within this building also fosters collaboration with global technology companies such as Ericsson, ZTE, Huawei, and Nokia.
According to Harry, the facilities in the Digital Transformation building will not be limited to students of STMM Yogyakarta; they will also be accessible to the general public participating in digital talent training offered by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.
This is because the Digital Transformation building is part of the Ministry's initiative for developing digital talent, also known as the Digital Talent Center (DTC).
Therefore, the educational infrastructure's facilities will be available for both digital talent training participants and STMM students to explore and develop technology, with the aim of fostering new innovations.
