Karya Raya Promotes Literacy And Fosters Creativity Among Children

Friday, 27 Sep 2024

The personalized book and educational application company, Bookabook.id, has once again launched Karya Raya to support and enhance literacy, reading interest, and creativity among children in Indonesia.

"Karya Raya provides a platform for children to explore their imagination and creative ideas through writing, which is then transformed into meaningful book works," stated Co-Founder of Bookabook.id, Ernest Junius Wiyanto, during the opening event of Karya Raya 2024 in Jakarta on Friday.

Ernest elaborated that Karya Raya is an innovative program designed to inspire children in writing and storytelling, made possible through collaboration with the Jakarta Library and Orva Motion.

Karya Raya encompasses a series of educational activities centered around three primary areas: Empowering children's creativity by offering guidance and a platform for expressing their ideas in book form, along with opportunities for publication; Enhancing children's creativity and cognitive skills through creative classes, storytelling sessions, and talk shows; and Fostering appreciation and motivation through awards, exhibitions, copyright grants from book sales, and social initiatives supported by donations from the sale of these works.

This year's Karya Raya, themed 'Page of Possibilities,' has successfully captivated children's interest, evidenced by a doubling in both participant numbers and the collection of children's book works compared to the inaugural event.

With a total of 1,018 participants, over 600 Indonesian children's books were showcased at the Jakarta Library from September 7 to September 27, 2024.

As the highlight of the celebration of Indonesian children's creativity, Karya Raya will host the Karya Raya Festival 2024 from September 27 to September 29, 2024. During this event, children will have the opportunity to promote their creations through various engaging activities, including the Tell-a-tale Storytelling Contest, the Lakukaryaku Booth, and more.

Additionally, the United Nations is promoting inclusive literacy through a children's literature festival.

"Our aim is to encourage children to explore their creativity and maximize their potential as writers, creators, and agents of change," he stated.

He expressed hope that this program would broaden children's perspectives on the various potentials they can develop, ultimately fostering a high-quality generation of young Indonesians in the future.

Ernest also emphasized his commitment to supporting educational institutions, such as schools, in discovering new methods to foster children's creativity in line with contemporary developments.

"We invite parents and the community to view the current generation from a fresh and more open perspective," he stated.
