The Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Erick Thohir, is once again showing his dedication to prioritizing the mental health of employees across Indonesia. This commitment was highlighted during the recent roadshow event "1000 Humans Sharing Stories," which took place in Medan, North Sumatra, on Friday (03/09). The event attracted around 300 participants, including millennial employees and influencers from the state-owned enterprises in the North Sumatra region. The goal of this roadshow is to encourage attendees to gain a deeper understanding of their emotions and raise awareness about the importance of mental health in the workplace. Erick Thohir, through his Special Staff III, Arya Sinulingga, emphasized that mental health is a crucial part of employee well-being, enabling them to tackle challenges in their work lives. Arya mentioned, “Before falling too deep, a revival and recovery are needed to avoid complete despair. Many employees seize one opportunity while letting another slip away without realizing their potential and desires, leading to feelings of failure and depression. Through the 1000 Humans Sharing Stories initiative, the Minister hopes that BUMN employees can express their emotions and explore their identities to make informed choices about the opportunities they pursue.” Mental health isn’t just about dealing with issues; it’s also about fostering an environment that supports overall well-being. The 1000 Humans event is a significant step towards encouraging open dialogue and helping employees navigate emotional challenges and confusion they may encounter. The Medan event featured various interactive sessions and talk shows aimed at helping participants recognize and understand their emotions. Additionally, it provided a platform for employees to share their experiences in maintaining mental health at work.
The 1000 Humans Sharing Stories event was kicked off as a way to advocate for mental health, creating a safe and comfy space for BUMN employees to share their personal stories. The North Sumatra edition features several segments, including a guided meditation session led by Adjie Santosoputro (Mindfulness Practitioner), followed by a talk show with notable figures who are closely associated with mental health, such as Firsta Faizah (Psychologist), Hendrik Sastrawan (BUMN Runners), Randy Pangalila (Actress), and Adinda Cresheilla (Miss Indonesia Tourism 2022). There are also interactive talks with Siti Maliha (Psychologist), face-to-face consultations with psychologists, and it wraps up with a five-sense experience.
The 1000 Humans Sharing Stories in North Sumatra is part of a roadshow that has already reached thousands of millennial BUMN employees. This makes North Sumatra the 8th location for the event, made possible through collaboration between the Ministry of BUMN and the Menjadi Manusia platform, with support from PTPN Holding, Inalum, PNM, and Pelindo. Looking ahead, the plan is to expand this initiative to more cities and provinces to boost awareness and practices related to mental health in Indonesia, helping people live healthier and more fulfilling lives.
