Friday, 30 Aug 2024

RSUP Dr. Sardjito in Yogyakarta has officially opened its new Mother and Child Health Building on Wednesday (August 28), with the inauguration led by President Joko Widodo himself.

This new facility is a significant step by the government to tackle the high rates of maternal and child mortality in Indonesia. President Jokowi expressed hope that this service will enhance healthcare for mothers and children, aiming to reduce fatalities to the lowest possible level. He praised the modern equipment available in the new facility and expressed his desire for this hospital to set a standard for other hospitals that will be inaugurated in the future.

The new building is specifically designed to improve healthcare services for mothers and children in Yogyakarta and its surrounding areas. It boasts modern facilities and the latest technology, which will enhance access and quality of care for pregnant women, infants, and children. Additionally, the building will facilitate early detection and more effective management of health issues related to mothers and children.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin shared that since 2022, the government has constructed 12 hospitals, with 10 of them expected to be completed in the last two years. "Out of those 10, four hospitals will be inaugurated this week by the President, another four next week, and the remaining two a bit later," he explained. The new services at RS Sardjito mark the first of these inaugurations. On the same occasion, RS Sardjito's Director, Dr. Eniarti, mentioned that the new building has increased the bed capacity for mothers and children from 150 to around 270 beds.

One of the standout features of this building is its fertility services for IVF, which, according to the Health Minister, can be further improved, said the Director of Sardjito Hospital. This facility aims to enhance access to healthcare for the community, especially for mothers and children. "This building will provide a safe and comfortable environment, and its benefits will extend beyond just the DIY region to areas like West Java, Central Java, and East Java," explained Director Dr. Eniarti. She hopes this facility will bring healthcare services closer to the public, particularly for maternal and child health, including those using BPJS Health. "Why go abroad when you can get it all at Sardjito?" Dr. Eniarti emphasized. The Mother and Child Health Building at RSUP Dr. Sardjito is expected to serve as a model for other hospitals across Indonesia. "We hope that with the establishment of this hospital, maternal and child healthcare will improve, helping to reduce mortality rates," concluded President Jokowi.
