PHBS Helps Avoid Diseases And Improve Quality Of Life

Clean and Healthy Living Behavior or PHBS is very necessary in various social settings. PHBS is not only needed in the household setting, there are still other settings that are no less important such as PHBS in schools and also PHBS in the workplace.
Clean and Healthy Living Behavior can be the key to improving the quality of public health. Implementing PHBS indicator practices in various settings can be a movement to popularize PHBS anywhere and anytime.
There are 10 PHBS indicators that need to be carried out at the household level according to the official website of the Ministry of Health. They are childbirth assisted by health workers, exclusive breastfeeding, weighing babies and toddlers regularly. There are other indicators such as washing hands with soap and clean water, using clean water and healthy toilets. Then there is the eradication of mosquito larvae, consumption of fruits and vegetables, doing physical activity and not smoking in the house.
Clean water is an essential element in maintaining the sustainability of life on earth, not only to meet daily needs, but also to support the implementation of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS). Understanding the urgency of clean water availability for all levels of society, Kao Indonesia, Kao Life-in-Harmony Foundation (LIHF) and Gama Inovasi Berdikari (GIB) synergize to provide access to clean water with GAMA-RainFilter rainwater harvesting technology, which is then strengthened with community empowerment education to increase awareness of the importance of PHBS in everyday life in Girimulyo Village, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta on April 10, 2025. Director of PT Gama Inovasi Berdikari Ridha Nurul Azizah, said that her team believes that access to clean water is not just a basic need, but is an important foundation in encouraging behavioral changes towards a healthier life. "GAMA-RainFilter technology is here as a practical and appropriate solution that can process rainwater into clean water that is suitable for use by the community. Through the education that we are doing today, we hope to strengthen understanding and build collective awareness in the community in managing clean water independently and sustainably," said Ridha in a press statement received by Tempo in early April 2025.
Associate Vice President of Legal, Compliance, Industrial Relations, and Corporate Communications of PT Kao Indonesia Wisik Restu said that Kao Indonesia supports this collaboration to create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable life for the people of Indonesia. "This PHBS education activity with clean water is certainly also a real manifestation of our commitment, which is expected to increase public awareness of clean and healthy living behavior in Girimulyo Village, Gunungkidul," he said.
He also hopes that this collaboration can contribute to the creation of the Kirei lifestyle which can ultimately improve the health and quality of life of the community.
Kao Life-in-Harmony Foundation President Yumi Takeuchi said the rainwater harvesting facility (GAMA-RainFilter) for the Girimulyo community as an opener for clean water access, and through PHBS education with clean water, it is hoped that it can encourage community empowerment in managing water resources independently. "As well as increasing understanding of the use of clean water to maintain cleanliness and sanitation in everyday life. So it is hoped that with this support, the health and quality of life of the community can improve," he said.
