In this month of Ramadan, PT Prudential Sharia Life Assurance (Prudential Syariah) collaborated with Hannah Indonesia, an Islamic-based parenting and education community, and Lyfe with Less, an Indonesian minimalist lifestyle community, to hold a Special Ramadan Talkshow program.
Hundreds of Muslim participants from various cities enthusiastically participated in the session entitled 'How to Start Conscious Consumption as a Lifestyle in Accordance with Tawhid'. In addition, after the talkshow session, the participants also participated in cross-exchange activities (bartering used goods) as a form of implementing a mindful lifestyle.
Through this activity, Prudential Syariah is present to provide education about the importance of managing finances based on sharia. One of them is by having sharia-based insurance which is expected to bring blessings during the month of Ramadan. In addition, the participants were also taught to build conscious consumption habits through a minimalist lifestyle where this is in line with making Tawhid a lifestyle.
Mayang Ekaputri, Chief Strategy Officer of Prudential Syariah said, "The month of Ramadan is a very important month for Muslims around the world, which is here to remind themselves of a lifestyle that is in accordance with Islamic principles. Celebrating this blessed month, Prudential Syariah invites Indonesian families to #JagaMaknaRamadanmu together through financial literacy education and sharia-based insurance, while also contributing to a wider ecosystem with the intention of sharing and helping each other." Mayang further explained in a written statement (14/3/2025), currently, the level of sharia financial literacy and inclusion is still very low when compared to conventional financial literacy. Data from the 2024 National Survey of Financial Literacy and Inclusion from the OJK found that the level of sharia financial literacy in Indonesia was still at 39.11%, far below the financial literacy level of 65.43%.
Meanwhile, the level of sharia financial inclusion has only reached 12.88%, far below the financial inclusion of 75.02%. The gap in understanding and utilization of sharia financial services in Indonesia, which is still very low, shows that education and access to sharia-based financial services still need to be intensified.
"In truth, life is a journey for us to continue to learn to be responsible for the sustenance entrusted by Allah. Through the concept of the Tauhid lifestyle, we are directed to make decisions that are not only good for ourselves, but also beneficial for others. We are pleased to collaborate with Prudential Syariah in educating Indonesian families to be more able to manage their finances according to sharia principles, while also starting conscious consumption," said Vendryana, Co-founder of Hannah Indonesia.
