Minister Of Industry Gives Signal For IPhone 16 To Be Sold In RI Before Lebaran

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang (Menperin) gave a signal that the iPhone 16 Series and iPhone 16e could be sold in Indonesia before Eid.
This is because the government and Apple have agreed on the investment that has been a requirement for selling the iPhone 16.
"With the MoU and the agreed investment value, it can be sold as soon as possible [Apple 16 before Eid]. As soon as possible," said Agus at the Ministry of Industry, as reported by CNBC, Wednesday (26/2).
However, there is no definite information yet on when the iPhone 16 will start being marketed in Indonesia.
Apple and Erajaya, as Apple's official distributor in Indonesia, have not responded regarding the sales date of these products.
However, Apple admitted that they can't wait to present their latest line of cellphones in the country.
"We are pleased to expand our investment in Indonesia, and can't wait to bring all of Apple's innovative products, including the iPhone 16 series, as well as the latest iPhone 16e, to our consumers here," said an Apple representative, when confirmed by CNNIndonesia.com.
The government through the Ministry of Industry and Apple have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday (25/2). This agreement signifies the green light for the iPhone 16 to enter Indonesia.
Negotiations between the two parties lasted for months and tended to be tough until finally an agreement was reached.
"Alhamdulillah, today we have signed the MoU between the Ministry of Industry and Apple, I said from the beginning that the negotiations would not be easy and it was proven until the last second, 15 minutes ago we were still adjusting communication regarding several items that we could include in the MoU, or that we could not include in the MoU, that was 15 minutes ago," said Agus some time ago.
Finally, Apple chose the third scheme option approach in fulfilling the obligation to obtain a TKDN certificate, namely the innovation scheme for building a training and development center with TKDN rewards.
This means that Apple is still the only mobile phone manufacturer that can sell imported phones without building a factory in Indonesia. Meanwhile, other brands have produced their phones in Indonesia through the TKDN manufacturing and software scheme.
