Populix has revealed that 9 out of 10 Indonesians regularly engage in physical exercise, as detailed in their report titled “Understanding Indonesia’s Sports Trends.”

According to Indah Tanip, the Vice President of Research at Populix, "Out of 1,030 survey respondents, 94 percent reported exercising regularly, at least once a week," during a press release on Saturday.

The report, which examines the interest of Indonesians in sports activities, indicates that a significant portion of the population now incorporates exercise into their lifestyle.

However, many still prioritize activities that are easy and convenient to perform at home or in their local environment.

Indah noted that most respondents reported exercising independently, although a small percentage are part of sports communities.

These communities vary, encompassing both team sports and individual activities such as gym workouts, cycling, swimming, and running.

"This reflects the seriousness of the public in making exercise a part of their lifestyle," Indah stated.

The majority of respondents (68 percent) exercise only one to two times a week, while 23 percent reported exercising more frequently, three to four times a week. Meanwhile, 6 percent engage in daily exercise.

Regarding preferred times for exercising, 58 percent opt for the morning, followed by 32 percent who prefer the afternoon. In terms of location, most respondents (42 percent) feel comfortable exercising at home, while 23 percent choose to exercise in nearby fields.

This indicates that the public tends to favor activities that are both comfortable and easily accessible.

According to the Populix survey, 90 percent of respondents reported exercising outside of formal sports settings. When ranked by popularity, running leads this category with 44 percent participation.
