WhatsApp Enables The Creation Of Personalized AI Chatbots

Wednesday, 15 Jan 2025

Recently, information has emerged indicating that WhatsApp is testing a new interface for its Android application, replacing the Communities tab with an AIs tab. This change aims to consolidate all AI-supported features in a single location.

Additionally, reports suggest that WhatsApp is developing a feature that will allow users to create personalized AI chatbots. This information comes from WABetaInfo, which discovered the feature in the WhatsApp beta version 2.25.1.26 for Android.

Supporting this information are screenshots, one of which suggests that the AI chatbot will be referred to as AI Character. Furthermore, WhatsApp users will have the capability to create their own AI chatbots within the application.

According to sources cited by GSM Arena, WhatsApp also intends to provide suggestions to simplify the chatbot creation process. When users create a chatbot, WhatsApp will prompt them to describe the chatbot's capabilities and primary objectives.

However, there is currently no information regarding the public release timeline of this feature for WhatsApp users worldwide. Moreover, this feature is not yet available to beta users as it remains under development.

Previously, WhatsApp announced the discontinuation of support for Android 4.4 (KitKat) and earlier versions starting January 1, 2025. This decision was made because older operating systems, such as Android 4.4 (KitKat), do not support the latest security features necessary to protect user data.

Additionally, older operating systems are unable to accommodate updates and new features, prompting WhatsApp to cease support for devices running Android 4.4 and earlier versions.

The decision to discontinue support for devices operating on Android 4.4 (KitKat) represents a strategic move by WhatsApp to ensure that the application remains secure, efficient, and functional on modern devices.
