WhatsApp Introduces Voice Message Transcription Feature: Here Are Its Functions And How To Use It

Monday, 13 Jan 2025

WhatsApp continues to enhance its services by introducing a new feature called Voice Message Transcripts.

This feature allows users to convert voice messages into text. Although it is available to a select group of users, it has not yet gained widespread recognition.

When activated, the text transcript will appear directly beneath the voice message in the chat interface. This functionality is particularly beneficial for users who may not wish or be able to listen to voice messages at certain times.

To utilize this feature, users must follow two primary steps: enabling the transcript feature and transcribing the voice message.

According to the official WhatsApp website, here are the steps to activate Voice Message Transcripts:

- Open the WhatsApp application and navigate to the Settings menu.

- Select the 'Chats' option.

- Enable the Voice Message Transcripts feature.

- Choose the language to be used for the transcript.

Additionally, here is how to transcribe a voice note:

- In the chat, select the voice message you wish to transcribe.

- Press and hold the message, then select the 'Transcribe' option.

- The transcribed text will automatically appear below the voice message.

It is important to note that this feature has certain limitations. Currently, it is only available in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian, with support for Indonesian not yet provided.
