What Is Behind The Search Of The Residence Of PDI-P Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto?

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a search of the residence of the Secretary-General of the PDI-P, Hasto Kristiyanto, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, in the afternoon. The search took place at Villa Taman Kartini Housing Complex, located at Jalan Graha Asri VI Block G3 Number 18, Margahayu, East Bekasi, West Java. KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika stated that the anti-corruption agency visited Hasto's home in connection with the investigation of a corruption case and obstruction of justice, in which Hasto is a suspect.
Hasto was designated as a suspect after allegedly orchestrating and controlling Donny Tri Istiqomah to lobby former KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan to secure Harun Masiku's appointment as a member of the House of Representatives. "Indeed, there is currently an ongoing search being conducted by investigators regarding the case involving suspect HK (Hasto Kristiyanto)," Tessa remarked, as reported by Antara on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
What prompted the KPK to search Hasto's residence?
Tessa explained that the search was conducted to gather necessary evidence related to the ongoing investigation. She emphasized that the search at Hasto's home was not a diversionary tactic. According to her, KPK investigators carry out their actions in a professional, procedural, and proportional manner. "All activities related to searches, seizures, and others depend on the requirements for fulfilling the elements of the case being handled," Tessa stated, as quoted by Kompas.com on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. "Thus, it is the investigators who determine when and where a search should be conducted," she added.
What items were seized following the KPK's search of Hasto's residence?
Johannes Tobing, a member of the legal team for the DPP PDI-P, reported that KPK investigators confiscated a flash drive and a small notebook containing writings by Kusnaidi during the search of Hasto's home.
