Chairman of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives, Marwan Dasopang, has articulated the reasons behind the decrease in the Cost of Organizing Hajj Worship (BPIH) for 2025 compared to the previous year. It has been established that the BPIH for 2025 is set at IDR 89,410,258, reflecting a reduction of IDR 4 million from the 2024 BPIH, which amounted to IDR 93.4 million. "In comparison to last year, there is a decrease of approximately IDR 4 million. This raises the question, 'why has it decreased?' There should ideally be an increase due to various incentives from the Saudi government, such as tax reductions and others," stated Marwan at the DPR Building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Furthermore, the DPR and the government have implemented efficiencies in the components of Hajj costs. He noted that many components have seen a reduction in costs without compromising their quality.
Marwan also highlighted that the burden on Hajj pilgrims now constitutes 62 percent, while the benefits provided by the government account for only 38 percent. "This indicates that the security and sustainability of our Hajj finances are improving. Meanwhile, the burden on pilgrims has decreased compared to last year, now amounting to IDR 55,431,750.78," he remarked. He further elaborated that the cost of flights has also decreased, although it remains the largest component of Hajj expenses, totaling IDR 33,100,000.
Additionally, accommodation in Mecca has now been set at IDR 14 million, down from IDR 17 million the previous year. "Moreover, accommodation in Medina has decreased from IDR 750,000 last year to IDR 370,000. This is an achievement we have made, resulting in a cumulative benefit value of IDR 6,831,000,000," he added. Previously, the Director General of Hajj and Umrah Organizing (PHU) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Hilman Latief, revealed that the Travel Cost of Hajj (Bipih) charged to Hajj pilgrims for 2025 has now been reduced to IDR 55.5 million, down from the previously proposed IDR 65 million.
This information was conveyed by Hilman during a meeting between the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Commission VIII of the DPR at the DPR Building in Senayan, Jakarta
