Monday, 06 Jan 2025

BRI Life Insurance consistently demonstrates its commitment to supporting sustainable development through its Social and Environmental Responsibility Program (TJSL). This program aims to provide economic, social, and environmental benefits to the community, following principles that are integrated, targeted, measurable, and accountable, forming part of the company's business approach. The TJSL program is implemented through three main pillars: Green Pillar, Healthy Pillar, and Smart Pillar, which focus on fulfilling basic human rights fairly and equally to enhance the welfare of all communities.

Corporate Secretary of BRI Life, Ade Nasution, stated, "BRI Life is dedicated to being present in the community through various TJSL programs that align with sustainable development goals (SDGs) and aim to make a positive contribution." Ade confirmed that during December 2024, BRI Life initiated several impactful programs, including the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM), greenhouse technology transformation, and tree planting efforts for reforestation.

UMKM Entrepreneur Development

The national economy shows a positive trend, reflected in the improving growth rate of Indonesia's economy. This solid economic trend is linked to the increasing maturity and growth of entrepreneurs in the micro, small, and medium enterprise (UMKM) sector. In light of this, BRI Life seizes the opportunity to develop UMKM entrepreneurs through a series of activities, including:

1. UMKM Group Literacy and Waste Awareness, in collaboration with UMKM Pempek Cek Ima and Muhammadiyah University of Palembang, at the beginning of December 2024.

2. Financial literacy education for the Mekaar UMKM group on December 17, 2024, at Bamboo Forest, East Bekasi.

Economic Development

BRI Life is collaborating with Pondok Pesantren Toyyiba Al Islamy in Lembang, West Bandung, West Java to enhance greenhouse facilities. This includes installing a drip irrigation system and circulation system, followed by the construction of the greenhouse foundation on December 19, 2024. The goal of this initiative is to boost vegetable crop productivity for food security, strengthen the pesantren's business capital through greenhouse cultivation, reduce harvest time to every 20 days, establish a distribution pattern for the harvest, and introduce planting methods using drip irrigation and circulation systems that complement each other.

Natural Resource and Environmental Management

BRI Life supports sustainable development and greening efforts while raising awareness about the benefits of multipurpose trees for the environment and economy. The organization aims to inspire the community to participate in preserving nature.

Some related activities that have been carried out include:

1. Tree planting during the internal event; Leaders Forum and National Work Meeting (Rakernas) 2024. This took place on December 20, 2024, in Kota Baru Parahyangan and Kampung Cireundeu, Bandung.

2. Planting tree seedlings with the Ngudi Tani Group in Dusun Ngipik, Yogyakarta. This event occurred on December 21, 2024, providing organic fertilizer and planting seeds for petai and durian, both of which are suitable for landslide-prone areas with limited water sources.

3. Nature conservation with the Bulu Wongso Forest Farmers Group in Malang. This activity was conducted on December 30, 2024, in Sendiki Forest, Tambakrejo Village, Sumbermanjing Wetan District, Malang. BRI Life supported the planting of mango, jackfruit, and nutmeg trees, which are well-suited for lowland areas and have economic value.
