The Directorate General of the Protection of Indonesian Citizens (PWNI) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia has stated that, to date, there are no Indonesian citizens among the passengers of the aircraft that crashed in South Korea on Sunday.
Director General Judha Nugraha conveyed via a text message that, according to informal information received, there were no Indonesian passengers on board the aircraft.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Seoul are actively monitoring the aircraft accident that occurred at Muan International Airport, he noted.
Judha further mentioned that the KBRI is coordinating with local authorities regarding the incident.
Previously, South Korean news agency Yonhap reported that at least 28 individuals have died, with several others likely injured, following the crash of a Jeju Air flight carrying 181 passengers.
The incident took place on Sunday at 9:07 AM local time (7:07 AM WIB) when the unfortunate aircraft veered off the runway during landing and collided with a fence at Muan International Airport, located approximately 288 kilometers southwest of the capital, Seoul.
