WhatsApp Introduces A New Feature For Direct Document Scanning From The Application

Monday, 30 Dec 2024

WhatsApp has recently introduced a new feature that simplifies the process of sending documents, particularly through direct scanning using the application’s camera.

This feature allows users to scan documents without needing to exit WhatsApp or open the device's default camera application.

According to Wabetainfo.com, on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, this feature presents three options when users choose to send a document.

The first option allows users to select documents from the 'Files' folder on their device, the second option is to choose from the gallery, and the third option enables direct scanning using the WhatsApp camera.

By selecting the scanning option, users will be directed to the WhatsApp camera to scan the document, after which they can view a preview and adjust the size of the margins or borders to optimize the scanning results.

Subsequently, users can confirm the sending of the document to either an individual chat or a group chat.

Previously, users had to rely on a separate camera application to scan documents and then upload them to WhatsApp, which was considered cumbersome.

Now, with this new feature, sending documents has become more convenient, and the scanned results are clearer compared to simply sending regular photos.

This feature is already available for WhatsApp users on version 24.25.89 for iOS and has been launched in Indonesia.

A similar feature is expected to be rolled out gradually to more users in the coming weeks.
