Sexual education among teenagers is often seen as a taboo topic and not suitable for discussion. However, it is believed that sexual education can be a key solution to reduce the rate of HIV/AIDS transmission among youth. Notably, data from the Ministry of Health in 2022 shows that the age group of 20-24 years has the second highest number of HIV/AIDS cases in Indonesia, reaching 16.1 percent.
In light of this, to commemorate World AIDS Day 2024 and as part of the launch of the latest variant of Okamoto 0.03 HA (hyaluronic acid) in Indonesia, the well-known Japanese condom manufacturer Okamoto is introducing the "Goes to Campus" sexual education program to raise awareness about the health risks of HIV/AIDS among teenagers.
Ms. Holly Kwan, Senior Chief Marketer of Okamoto Industries (HK) Ltd., stated that World AIDS Day is observed annually to enhance global awareness of HIV/AIDS health risks. “We understand that raising awareness about HIV/AIDS health risks in society is not easy, and we feel compelled to contribute to this cause.
Therefore, alongside the introduction of the new Okamoto 0.03 HA (hyaluronic acid) variant, we are launching the "Goes to Campus" sexual education program as part of our commitment to actively participate in reducing HIV/AIDS transmission rates in Indonesia,” explained Holly Kwan.
Welcoming Okamoto's initiative for this year's World AIDS Day, Febrizky Yahya, a Counselor and Sex Educator from Tiga Generasi, emphasized that a lack of knowledge and risky sexual behavior are the main reasons for the high rates of HIV/AIDS transmission. “Many people still misunderstand sexual education, but it is crucial for teenagers. It is not about encouraging sexual activity, but about providing accurate information and protecting them from potential risks,” said Febrizky Yahya.
Holly Kwan shared more about the latest variant from Okamoto, stating that when used correctly, Okamoto condoms can help prevent pregnancy and reduce the risk of HIV/AIDS transmission, as well as other sexually transmitted infections.
"Okamoto 0.03 HA (hyaluronic acid) is an ultra-thin condom with a thickness of 0.03 mm, consistent from tip to base. It is coated with hyaluronic acid lubricant, which adds moisture to the condom for a more memorable sexual experience for couples. Intimacy will feel different with this deep moisturizing effect, making it feel like skin," Holly Kwan added.
Dr. Agung Mohamad Rheza, Sp. D.V.E, explained that hyaluronic acid is a natural compound that retains water in skin tissue, preventing it from evaporating. This ability helps maintain skin moisture.
This is why skincare products containing hyaluronic acid are in high demand. "Just like the face, the genital area also needs moisture. The moisture level in the genital area is crucial for comfort during sex. When it is too dry, the genital skin can become irritated and increase the risk of infections, especially for women," Dr. Agung said.
During the sexual education event "Goes to Campus," various fun activities were also presented to engage participants. "As a leading condom brand in Japan, Okamoto understands the importance of comfort during intimacy to enhance the shared experience for couples."
