A Survey Indicates That Indonesians Are Increasingly Prioritizing Healthy Eating Habits

Tuesday, 17 Dec 2024

A recent survey conducted by Herbalife reveals that a healthy diet is increasingly regarded as a priority by the Indonesian population in maintaining both mental and physical health.

According to the Asia Pacific survey titled “New Year, New Me,” 89 percent of Indonesian consumers identified a healthy diet as a key factor in supporting their overall well-being.

The survey, which involved 5,500 respondents from 11 Asia Pacific countries, was carried out by Talker Research on behalf of Herbalife. The findings indicate that 95 percent of Indonesian respondents plan to adopt healthier lifestyle habits by 2025. These habits are assessed based on overall well-being, increased energy levels, and improved sleep patterns.

Furthermore, 74 percent of Indonesian consumers reported having set New Year’s resolutions for 2025. The top three resolutions include exercising more frequently (63 percent), maintaining a healthy diet (59 percent), and focusing on saving money (52 percent).

Oktrianto Wahyu Jatmiko, Director & General Manager of Herbalife Indonesia, emphasized the importance of consistency in pursuing health-related resolutions in a statement on Monday.

"Start with small, achievable goals. With commitment, healthy habits can become a long-term part of your routine," he stated.

The survey also highlighted that the end of the year poses significant challenges for Indonesians in sustaining a healthy lifestyle. Nearly half of the respondents (41 percent) felt that their lifestyle became less healthy during this period. Additionally, 38 percent admitted to postponing healthy eating in favor of enjoying holiday moments.

Among Gen Z respondents, 41 percent acknowledged that they are more likely to break healthy eating rules compared to 34 percent of millennials. Overall, 64 percent of respondents reported violating dietary restrictions during the year-end, primarily due to temptations from holiday foods (38 percent) and the social atmosphere with family or friends (50 percent).
