YouTube Has Launched An Automatic Voice-over Feature For Educational Content, Which Includes Support For The Indonesian Language

Monday, 16 Dec 2024

YouTube has introduced an AI-based automatic dubbing feature that enables creators to generate translated audio tracks for their videos.

After undergoing limited testing, this feature is now available to hundreds of thousands of channels that focus on informative content, such as cooking or sewing tutorials.

This functionality utilizes Google's Gemini technology to replicate human voices and supports a variety of languages, including English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Users simply need to upload their videos as usual, and YouTube will automatically detect and create dubbed versions in other languages.

However, YouTube cautions that this technology is still in development, and the results may not be flawless.

"We are working diligently to make it as accurate as possible, but there may be instances where the translations are incorrect, or the dubbed voice does not accurately represent the original speaker," YouTube stated in its official blog, as reported on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

According to Techcrunch.com, YouTube is also preparing a feature called 'Expressive Speech' designed to mimic the tone and emotions of the speaker, thereby providing a more realistic viewing experience.

This dubbing feature is expected to enhance the accessibility and comprehensibility of YouTube content for users worldwide.
