Trade Minister Budi Santoso is encouraging micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that produce healthy food to explore export markets. This call aligns with a key program from the Ministry of Trade, called MSMEs Ready for Innovation and Export (MSMEs BISA Export). This initiative aims to help as many MSMEs as possible consider expanding into international markets. He hopes that more MSMEs will take advantage of the MSMEs BISA Export program.
Minister Budi made this statement during his work visit on Tuesday, December 3, to PT Ladang Sehat Indonesia, also known as Ladang Lima, in Kutisari, Surabaya, East Java. Ladang Lima is a producer of processed foods, including gluten-free products.
“MSMEs BISA Export is a collaborative effort involving the government, the MSMEs themselves, and the community. Let’s support each other. The Ministry of Trade has provided facilities for MSMEs to enter export markets. Let’s coordinate. The Ministry has many trade representatives abroad who can help promote healthy food products from MSMEs and invite businesses to participate in international exhibitions. Let’s make use of this opportunity,” urged Minister Budi.
According to Minister Budi, the Directorate General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade is ready to assist businesses, including MSMEs producing healthy food, in reaching broader export markets. One way to do this is by organizing business matching events targeting potential markets for gluten-free healthy foods, such as Australia, Europe, and America.
Mendag Budi hopes that collaboration between the government and business players will enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian healthy food products in the global market. "We are prioritizing collaboration among the government, businesses, and trade associations to boost the export of Indonesian products globally," said Mendag Budi.
Ladang Lima is a medium-small scale food processing company. It employs 133 people in Surabaya and 71 in Pasuruan. The company produces gluten-free healthy food made from cassava. These products are distributed to hotels and cafes through e-commerce and direct sales. Ladang Lima has become an exporter of healthy food products, with about 10 percent of its production reaching markets in Australia, the United States, and several European countries.
"Ladang Lima must continue to improve all aspects, including product quality and packaging. Utilize the export training facilities from Kemendag and its international exhibition networks," stated Mendag Budi.
Annisa Pratiwi, the owner of Ladang Lima, was present during Mendag Budi's visit. She shared that the effort to provide healthy Indonesian food started as a dream. From this vision, Ladang Lima has participated in various food exhibitions to enter the export market.
"We dream of supporting Indonesia's food security. Kemendag has helped us participate in several exhibitions. We want to collaborate more to gain greater market access so our products can be better known globally," said Annisa.
